Updated Procedure Guideline of the German Society of Nuclear Medicine for Amyloid Brain PET Imaging 3.0.

This represents a substantial development of the guideline on the topic first published in 2016. The following notable points have been updated: the sections on background information; the clinical benefit of the method; the resulting differential diagnostic considerations; the outlook for possible future extensions of the indication spectrum; the quantitative analysis of the PET images; the embedding of the method in diagnostic pathways; and the relation to alternative biomarker methods such as amyloid measurement in CSF/blood. Hierbei handelt es sich um eine substanzielle Fortentwicklung der 2016 erstmals veröffentlichten Leitlinie zum Thema. Insbesondere wurden die Abschnitte zu Hintergrundinformationen, zum klinischen Nutzen der Methode, zu resultierenden differenzialdiagnostischen Erwägungen, zum Ausblick auf eventuelle zukünftige Erweiterungen des Indikationsspektrums, zur quantitativen Analyse der PET-Aufnahmen, zur Einbettung der Methode in diagnostische Handlungspfade und zum Kontext zu alternativen Biomarker-Methoden wie der Amyloid-im-Liquor/Blut-Messung aktualisiert.
